Crowned in Glory, Buried Abroad: Iran's Last Shah's Exile
•Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, Iran's last monarch, ruled for nearly four decades (1941-1979) before being deposed by the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
•Known as "King of Kings," he sought to modernize Iran with the White Revolution but faced criticism for suppressing dissent and pro-Western policies.
•Forced into exile in January 1979, he moved across continents, battling lymphatic cancer and facing diplomatic isolation.
•His entry into the US for medical treatment sparked the US Embassy hostage crisis in Tehran.
•He died at age 60 in Cairo, Egypt, on July 27, 1980, and was buried in Al-Rifa’i Mosque, receiving a state funeral from Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.
