France Summons US Envoy Over 'Interfering' Remarks on Far-Right Activist's Death
•
France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot summoned US Ambassador Charles Kushner over comments on the death of far-right activist Quentin Deranque.
•
Barrot condemned the US remarks as "interference" in France's national affairs.
•
The US embassy in France shared an X post from the US State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau, linking Deranque's death to "left-wing violence."
•
Quentin Deranque, 23, died after a brawl in Lyon on February 12, leading to murder charges against two people and 11 arrests.
•
This is not the first time Ambassador Kushner has been summoned by French authorities; he was previously called in over remarks on antisemitism.
