IEA: Emergency Oil Stocks Flow Immediately to Asia Amid Middle East War Disruption

The International Energy Agency (IEA) announced immediate release of oil from emergency stocks for Asia, starting March 16.
•
This move aims to replace barrels lost due to war-related disruptions in the Middle East, crucial for highly reliant Asian buyers.

Oil from these emergency stocks will be made available to Europe and the Americas only from the end of March.
•
IEA stated the Middle East war has caused the biggest supply disruption in history, effectively blocking the vital Strait of Hormuz.
•
Oil futures closed above $100 a barrel; IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol emphasized opening the Strait of Hormuz for stable flows.
