IMEC: India's Lifeline to Europe, Jaishankar Roars on Global Stage

• External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar presented the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) as India's future lifeline at the Munich Security Conference (MSC).
• IMEC aims to create a modern and fast route for trade, energy, and digital connectivity between India, the Gulf countries, and Europe, involving an integrated network of ships and railways.
• The corridor will connect Indian ports to the UAE by sea, then proceed via railway through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel (Haifa Port), finally reaching Europe via Greece (Piraeus Port).
• It will reduce goods transit time to Europe by 40% and cut logistics costs by 30%, providing a secure route for green hydrogen and energy pipelines.
• IMEC is seen as a 'security shield' and a 'neutral' route, protecting India from global crises and empowering its independent foreign policy amidst oil supply disruptions.
