Iraqi Oil Terminals Suspended After Two Tankers Attacked in Waters
•
Two oil tankers, Marshall Islands-flagged Safesea Vishnu and Malta-flagged Zefyros, were attacked in Iraqi waters.
•
The attacks prompted Iraq's State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO) to suspend operations at its oil terminals.
•
Safesea Vishnu was chartered by a company contracted with SOMO, while Zefyros carried Basrah Gas Co. condensate.
•
Zefyros was scheduled to head to Khor Al-Zubair Port to load an additional 30,000 tonne shipment of plastics feedstock naphtha.
•
SOMO stated the event negatively impacts Iraq’s security and economy, threatening maritime navigation safety.
