Former PM K.P. Sharma Oli Arrested in Nepal Amidst Gen-Z Protest Crackdown
•Former Nepali PM K.P. Sharma Oli and senior leader Ramesh Lekhak arrested for criminal negligence in suppressing September's Gen-Z protests.
•Arrests mark the first major action by Prime Minister Balen Shah's new administration, just one day after he took office.
•The action follows recommendations from a special commission and an arrest warrant issued by the court.
•Oli and Lekhak could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted under Sections 181 and 182 of the National Penal Code.
•The commission also recommended action against other high-ranking officials for negligence in handling the violent protests that resulted in 77 deaths.
