CAG Uncovers Major Irregularities in Bihar's PMAY-G Implementation
•The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has flagged significant irregularities in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme in Bihar.
•Allegations include sanctioning permanent houses to minor children and geo-tagging houses in Delhi and Jharkhand instead of Bihar.
•The CAG report, tabled in the state Assembly, highlighted instances of houses sanctioned to ineligible minor beneficiaries, even when parents were alive, with payments of Rs 2.50 lakh made.
•Discrepancies in geo-tagging showed 52 cases of houses tagged at distant locations within Bihar, and three cases outside the state in Delhi and Jharkhand (51 km to 915 km away).
•PMAY-G, launched in June 2015, aims to provide affordable housing with basic facilities to rural poor, replacing temporary houses.
