Centre Orders Telegram to Remove 3,100+ Channels for Copyright Violations

•The central government directed Telegram to disable over 3,100 channels for violating the Copyright Act, 1957.
•The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued the order on Wednesday, March 11.
•Channels were found distributing unauthorized content owned by content owners, OTT platforms, and producers.
•Joint Secretary C Senthil Rajan's notification mandated removal of all content within three hours.
•A total of 3,142 Telegram channels were specifically identified for removal.
