Centre Orders Telegram to Remove 3,100+ Channels for Copyright Violations

The central government directed Telegram to disable over 3,100 channels for violating the Copyright Act, 1957.
•
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued the order on Wednesday, March 11.
•
Channels were found distributing unauthorized content owned by content owners, OTT platforms, and producers.
•
Joint Secretary C Senthil Rajan's notification mandated removal of all content within three hours.
•
A total of 3,142 Telegram channels were specifically identified for removal.
