Dimapur Railway Land Encroachment Stalls Modernization; Nagaland Assembly Seeks Solution

•Nagaland Assembly discussed large-scale land encroachment hindering the modernization of the 123-year-old Dimapur Railway Station.
•NPP MLA Nuklutoshi highlighted 30.283 hectares of railway land encroached by 614 illegal occupants and over 1,100 structures.
•The Rs 283 crore Amrit Bharat Scheme project for Dimapur Railway Station's world-class upgrade is stalled due to the land dispute.
•Options considered include a Rs 132 crore resettlement plan, eviction, or shifting the station to Sukhovi or Tuli.
•CM Neiphiu Rio stressed amicable settlement, rejecting double compensation demands, and affirmed the station must remain in Dimapur.
