EC Transfers 83 BDOs, AROs Across 18 Bengal Districts Ahead of Elections

• The Election Commission (EC) transferred 83 Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) across 18 districts of West Bengal.
• The reshuffle covers blocks from Dinhata-II in Cooch Behar to Diamond Harbour-I and II in South 24 Parganas, among others.
• Districts affected include Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, East and West Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura, East and West Burdwan, and Birbhum.
• The directive was issued from the EC's New Delhi office to ensure administrative neutrality and a level playing field.
• The move comes amidst ongoing friction between the state government and the Centre over official transfers, with CM Mamata Banerjee alleging political motivation.
