EC Transfers 83 BDOs, AROs Across 18 Bengal Districts Ahead of Elections
•The Election Commission (EC) transferred 83 Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) across 18 districts of West Bengal.
•The reshuffle covers blocks from Dinhata-II in Cooch Behar to Diamond Harbour-I and II in South 24 Parganas, among others.
•Districts affected include Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, East and West Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura, East and West Burdwan, and Birbhum.
•The directive was issued from the EC's New Delhi office to ensure administrative neutrality and a level playing field.
•The move comes amidst ongoing friction between the state government and the Centre over official transfers, with CM Mamata Banerjee alleging political motivation.
