ED Seeks to Declare Nirav Modi's Brothers Fugitive Economic Offenders in PNB Scam

  • The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed applications to declare Nirav Modi’s brothers, Neeshal and Nehal Modi, as 'Fugitive Economic Offenders' (FEO) in the PNB scam.
  • Applications were moved before a special court for Prevention of Money Laundering Act cases, with a hearing scheduled for February 18.
  • Declaring someone an FEO allows for the attachment or confiscation of their assets.
  • Nehal Modi is accused of helping Nirav move and hide money through fake companies, while Neeshal Modi was involved in appointing dummy partners and was a signatory in Dubai-based dummy companies.
  • The ED also seeks to declare Nirav Modi’s firm executives, Aditya Nanavati and Sandeep Mistry, as fugitives; Nirav Modi was declared an FEO in 2019.
