Female Elephant Carcass Found in Katarniaghat Sanctuary, Natural Causes Suspected

• Forest department personnel discovered the carcass of a 20-25 year old female elephant in the Bichhiya area of Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.
• Preliminary findings suggest the elephant died of natural causes, with no evidence of human interference.
• A post-mortem was conducted on site, and viscera samples were sent to IVRI, Bareilly, for pathological analysis.
• The elephant is estimated to have died 8-10 days prior to discovery, possibly due to illness or fight-related injuries.
• Patrolling has been intensified in the sanctuary, which is part of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and home to diverse wildlife.
