Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara to Open May 23: World's Highest Shrine Welcomes Devotees

• The doors of Sri Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara in Uttarakhand, the world's highest-altitude gurdwara, will open for devotees on May 23.
• Narendrajit Singh Bindra, President of the Sri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, announced the date after a meeting with Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan.
• Discussions were held regarding pilgrimage arrangements, with Bardhan assuring cooperation and directing local administration for appropriate facilities.
• The Trust provides free accommodation and meals at its dharamshalas along the route, while 'Langar' is served at the gurdwara.
• Situated at 15,200 feet in Chamoli, the gurdwara closes annually in October due to heavy snowfall and is revered as Guru Gobind Singh's 'tapsthali'.
