• A sanitation worker at Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai, was arrested for allegedly raping a 38-year-old mentally ill patient.
• The incident came to light after a medical examination revealed the non-communicative woman was pregnant.
• The patient has been undergoing treatment in the Psychiatry Department since June 14, 2025.
• The accused, Ravindra, a contractual staff member, confessed to the crime during interrogation.
• Police registered a case under section 64(2) (Rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
