IMD Forecasts Above-Normal Heatwave Days Across India from March to May
•IMD predicts above-normal heatwave days for most parts of India between March and May.
•Regions affected include West Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
•Maximum temperatures in March are expected to be normal to below normal in many areas, excluding the northeast, east, and parts of the Western Himalayas, central and peninsular India.
•Normal rainfall across India in March is cited as a reason for the potentially lower temperatures early in the period.
•February 2024 saw the lowest rainfall since 2001 and no cold wave conditions across the country.
