India Grants Brazil Access to Traditional Knowledge Digital Library

India and Brazil signed a cooperation agreement for Brazil to access India's Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL).
•
The agreement allows the Brazilian Patent Office to use the TKDL database for patent examination and grant procedures.
•
This initiative strengthens India's global efforts against biopiracy and misappropriation of traditional knowledge.
•
The pact was signed during President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's visit and will be implemented by INPI, Brazil, and CSIR, India.
•
TKDL, established in 2001, contains over 520,000 formulations from Indian medicine systems like Ayurveda, Unani, and Yoga.
