India's CV Industry Soars 27% in January, GST Cut Fuels Volume Surge: ICRA
•
Indian commercial vehicle (CV) industry saw a 27% YoY volume growth in January 2026, reaching 99,544 units.
•
The surge is primarily attributed to the GST rate reduction from 28% to 18%, effective September 22, 2025, and increased freight activity.
•
Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) retail volumes grew 15.4% YoY in January 2026, with a 6.3% growth for 10M FY2026.
•
Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment recorded 14.9% YoY growth in retail volumes in January 2026, showing faster demand uptick post-GST cut.
•
ICRA projects a moderate 7-9% YoY growth in wholesale volumes for the full FY2026, with 4-6% growth for FY2027.
