Najafgarh Drain Revamp Cleared: Desilting & Service Roads Approved

• Irrigation and Flood Control Board approved a revamp project for the Najafgarh drain, including large-scale desilting and construction of two-lane service roads.
• The project aims to remove over 91 lakh cubic metres of accumulated silt from the Najafgarh drain to reduce flood risk and improve flow.
• A Rs 453.95-crore project was cleared for two-lane service roads along the 57-km Najafgarh drain, enhancing mobility and reducing congestion in West and South-West Delhi.
• The Board also approved other projects like remodelling the Kailash Nagar Drain, reconstructing boundary walls, and a feasibility study for an elevated road along Trunk Drain No.1.
