Delhi's Najafgarh Drain to become 57km expressway, ending traffic woes
- •Delhi Flood Control Board approved a major drain revamp plan, including an expressway on Najafgarh Drain.
- •A 57 km, two-lane service road will be built along the Najafgarh Drain as part of UER-2, costing ₹453.95 crore.
- •The new expressway aims to alleviate traffic congestion, especially for commuters from West and South-West Delhi, and improve connectivity to Dwarka, Najafgarh, and the airport.
- •The plan also includes mega desilting of Najafgarh Drain (91 lakh cubic meters of silt) to improve drainage and prevent waterlogging.
- •Elevated road plans for East Delhi (Trunk Drain No. 1), Shahdara Link Drain beautification, and Kailash Nagar Drain remodeling were also approved.
