Jan Vishwas Bill: DDA Act Fines Revised, Imprisonment Terms Adjusted

Central government proposes changes to fines under the Delhi Development Act, 1957, via the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026.
•
The bill, introduced by Jitin Prasada, alters 'penalties' to 'punishment' in Section 29.
•
Punishment for Master Plan contravention reduced from 'rigorous imprisonment' to 'imprisonment'.
•
Fines for simple imprisonment increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000; daily contravention fine raised to Rs 2,500.
•
Fine for assaulting authorized personnel increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000, with imprisonment up to six months.
