JNUSU Office-Bearers Among 5 Students Rusticated for Library Vandalism

  • Five PhD students, including four JNUSU office-bearers, have been rusticated for two semesters by JNU.
  • The students were found guilty of vandalizing Facial Recognition Technology (FRT) access gates at the Dr B R Ambedkar Central Library on November 21, 2025.
  • Rusticated students are Kizhakoot Gopika Babu, Aditi Mishra, Sunil Yadav, Danish Ali, and Nitish Kumar, declared "out of bounds" from campus and fined Rs 20,000 each.
  • JNUSU president Aditi Mishra and Vice-president Gopika Babu led the vandalism, causing damage to the FRT system estimated at Rs 20 lakh.
  • Two female security guards sustained injuries during the incident, and students were found guilty of violence, property damage, and academic disruption.
