Karnataka Assembly Tables Bill to Levy Fees on Ads, Regulate Unauthorised Hoardings

•The Karnataka Municipalities and Certain Other Law (Amendment) Bill, 2026, was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on Friday.
•The Bill makes provisions for levying and collecting fees on advertisements, aligning with the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024.
•It also aims to regulate unauthorized advertisements and validate fees and penalties in municipalities and municipal corporations.
•Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh tabled the Bill, which is expected to be discussed next week.
