Kerala HC Grants Bail to Suspected LTTE Operative After Four Years in Custody

Kerala High Court granted bail to Satkunam, a Sri Lankan citizen and suspected LTTE operative, in a UAPA case.

Bail was granted as the trial had not commenced even after over four years of judicial custody.

Satkunam, also known as Sabesan, is suspected of being part of the outer security wing of late LTTE leader Prabhakaran.

The court cited the right to speedy trial under Article 21, applicable to all persons, not just Indian citizens.

Bail conditions include a Rs one lakh bond, surrendering passport, and reporting to police regularly.
