Kolkata Warehousing Leasing Drops 30% in 2025 Due to High Land Costs: Report
•
Kolkata's warehousing leasing fell 30% year-on-year to 4.6 million sq ft in 2025 from 6.5 million sq ft in 2024, according to Knight Frank India.
•
The decline is primarily attributed to elevated land prices and limited availability of Grade A facilities, indicating a supply-driven issue.
•
Despite the moderation, the market shows resilience and long-term potential, supported by improving infrastructure and evolving occupier demand.
•
Manufacturing sector saw a 7% rise in leasing, increasing its share to 21%, while 3PL's share declined. E-commerce remained strong at 22%.
•
Dankuni dominated leasing with a 60% share, followed by NH 16 with 40%, while Taratala-Maheshtala and Andul Road saw no activity.
