Maharashtra Relaxes Promotion Norms for Faculty in Educational Institutes

• Maharashtra government has relaxed eligibility conditions under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for faculty in technical education institutes.
• The relief retroactively grants CAS benefits to lecturers regularized from contractual appointments who completed refresher courses by December 31, 2023.
• Mandatory PhD requirement for higher pay band under CAS is waived for lecturers appointed before March 5, 2010.
• Lecturers appointed in 2003-04 in Science and Humanities streams will receive CAS benefits based on MA/MSc qualifications.
• Contractual lecturers from 2003-04 are exempted from mandatory ME/MTech for CAS eligibility; others get a three-year window.
