Nagaland Unveils First Drone School to Boost Tech Skills and Governance

• Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated Nagaland's first Drone School and Drone Centre of Excellence at the Nagaland GIS and Remote Sensing Centre, Kohima.
• The initiative by the State GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) aims to equip youth with advanced drone technology skills and promote innovation-driven employment.
• The school will offer DGCA-compliant Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) courses and short-term programs in FPV flying, drone repair, maintenance, data analysis, and mapping.
• The first batch of 50 trainees, sponsored by the Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission, will receive free training, placement assistance, and industry linkages.
• With an allocation of Rs 2.50 crore for FY 2025–26, the school seeks to strengthen skill development and enhance governance through drone-enabled services.
