PFRDA Chief: 3 Funds Mulling Pension-Health Cover Bundles, Swasthya Scheme to Boost Medical Savings
•PFRDA Chairman S Ramann announced three pension funds are developing plans to bundle pension offerings with health covers.
•The health covers will be offered through tie-ups with health insurance companies or healthcare providers, under the new 'Swasthya' scheme.
•The Swasthya platform, launched in January, allows up to 30% of an investor's money to be set aside for medical expenses during the pension plan.
•ICICI, Axis, and Tata-sponsored pension funds are currently experimenting with these bundled offerings, with ICICI expected to launch a product soon.
•PFRDA is also exploring sustained double-digit returns, investments in project finance, real estate, and alternative investment funds, and aims to increase NPS coverage from 1 crore people with NPCI's help.
