Punjab Launches Massive Food Safety Drive; Mobile Vans to Combat Adulteration

Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh announced a targeted food testing campaign to ensure 'Shudh Ann' (pure food) for citizens.

FDA will run a statewide campaign from April 1 to 15, 2026, utilizing 'Food Safety on Wheels' (FSWs) vans for extensive checks.

FSWs are mobile labs equipped to test for adulteration in milk, ghee, paneer, spices, and other daily consumables on the spot.
•
Key studies will investigate heavy metals, pesticides in vegetables near industrial areas, nutraceuticals, and antibiotic residues in poultry/meat.
•
Food Business Operators (FBOs) are urged to register with FDA and adopt "Eat Right, Stay Healthy"; strict action awaits adulterators.
