Raksha Khadse Announces ASMITA Athletics in 250 Districts for IWD, Boosts Olympic Bid

• MoS Sports Raksha Khadse announced ASMITA athletics events for over two lakh girls across 250 districts on March 8-9 to mark International Women’s Day.
• The initiative aims to increase women's participation in sports, bolstering India’s 2036 Olympic bid and 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
• ASMITA, part of the Khelo India Scheme, promotes sports among women through leagues and began in 2021.
• Events include 100m, 200m, and 400m races in Under-13, 13-18, and 18+ categories, managed by technical officials and volunteers.
• A Women Technical Officials Development Workshop will also be conducted, training referees and timekeepers in AFI-aligned officiating norms.
