Right to Education Does Not Include Right to Choose School: Delhi HC
•Delhi High Court rules that the Right to Education (RTE) Act does not grant a child the right to select a specific school.
•A bench of Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia stated that while RTE promotes social inclusion, it doesn't translate into a right to choose a particular institution.
•The verdict came on a mother's appeal seeking admission for her ward in Class 2 under the EWS category in a private school for the 2024-2025 academic session.
•The court noted that the Directorate of Education (DoE) had accommodated the child in another preferred school, but the appellant refused it.
•The division bench declined relief, stating that without an interim order, the right to admission perishes once the academic year ends.
