SBI launches USD 500 mn social loan for women empowerment

•SBI announced a USD 500 million syndicated social term loan facility on the eve of International Women’s Day.
•The loan is exclusively focused on women empowerment, with a greenshoe option, to accelerate social impact.
•It aims to reduce the gender gap and contribute meaningfully to United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5.
•SBI Chairman C S Setty emphasized the bank's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
•This is SBI's first gender-themed loan, expected to be the largest globally by an Indian financial institution.
