SC Grants Full Pension to Women Officers Denied Permanent Commission
•Supreme Court rules women Short Service Commission (SSC) officers denied Permanent Commission due to arbitrary assessment are entitled to full pensionary benefits.
•Officers will be 'deemed' to have completed the minimum qualifying service of 20 years for pension, even if released earlier.
•Judgment addresses petitions challenging denial of PC based on 2019 policy changes and previous Armed Forces Tribunal rulings.
•Court found Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) for women officers were often graded 'casually', adversely affecting their merit.
•Using Article 142, SC orders all SSC officers considered for PC in 2019-2021 selection boards to be deemed to have completed 20 years of service for pension, effective November 1, 2025.
