Telangana Police Launch 'Operation Crackdown' to Dismantle Cybercrime Networks
•Telangana Police initiated "Operation Crackdown" to dismantle cybercrime networks across the state, conceived by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB).
•The first phase targeted 4,775 mule bank accounts, with 1,888 suspected accounts in 137 bank branches across 16 districts being investigated.
•These accounts are linked to 9,431 crime links nationwide, including 782 in Telangana.
•137 police teams, comprising 512 officers, inspected bank branches and collected KYC details of suspicious account holders.
•Initial findings suggest potential collusion of bank staff and an organized network exploiting gaps in smaller banks' verification processes.
