Top seed Jay Clarke of Britain suffered a first-round singles exit at the Chennai Open, losing to Ioannis Xilas of Greece 6-4, 6-4.

Clarke, ranked No. 183, initially led 3-0 in the first set before Xilas mounted a strong comeback.

In doubles, top two seeded pairs Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha/Pruchya Isaro and Saketh Myneni/Siddhant Banthia advanced to the quarter-finals.

Poonacha/Isaro, fresh from their Grand Slam debut, defeated Sai Karteek Reddy Ganta/Digvijaypratap Singh 6-4, 6-2.

Myneni/Banthia battled back from a set down to win 2-6, 6-1, 10-2, with Myneni aiming for a third consecutive Chennai Open Challenger final.
