Unemployment Dips to 6.7% in Oct-Dec Quarter, Rural Joblessness Also Falls
•Unemployment rate for persons aged 15 and above in cities marginally declined to 6.7% in Oct-Dec 2025 from 6.9% in the previous quarter.
•Rural unemployment rate for those aged 15 and above fell to 4% in Oct-Dec 2025 from 4.4% in the previous quarter, driven by lower rates for both males and females.
•The proportion of self-employed persons increased in both rural (63.2%) and urban (39.7%) areas during Oct-Dec 2025.
•Total employed persons increased to 57.4 crore in Oct-Dec 2025 from 56.2 crore in July-September 2025, with increases in both male and female employment.
•Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) rose to 55.8% and Worker Population Ratio (WPR) increased to 53.1% in Oct-Dec 2025, with female LFPR showing an upward trend.
