Tata Motors to Deploy 40 Hydrogen Trucks at Tuticorin Port, Decarbonizing Cargo
•Tata Motors signed an MoU with V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) to deploy 40 green hydrogen internal combustion engine-powered prime movers.
•The project aims to decarbonize cargo handling operations at Tuticorin port in Tamil Nadu.
•The fleet will include the Tata Motors Prima 55-tonne prime mover for cargo transport.
•VOCPA plans to establish a 2 MW electrolyzer and a dedicated hydrogen refueling station to support the trucks.
•Tata Motors will begin trials with one hydrogen-powered prime mover, with phased deployment over two years, funded by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
