YES Bank names Vinay Tonse MD & CEO-designate; RBI approves 3-year term

• YES Bank appoints Vinay Muralidhar Tonse as MD & CEO-designate, approved by Reserve Bank of India; he will assume the role on April 6, 2026, for a three-year term.
• Tonse succeeds Prashant Kumar, who successfully stabilized the bank after its 2020 financial crisis, and brings over three decades of banking experience.
• He previously served as Managing Director at State Bank of India, overseeing retail operations with an $800 billion retail book, and led SBI Mutual Fund, growing its AUM significantly.
• Tonse also has extensive international experience, having worked in Singapore and led SBI’s overseas operations in Osaka, Japan, gaining exposure to global financial markets.
• The appointment aims to bolster YES Bank's retail and corporate banking, with Tonse committed to creating long-term value and building on his predecessor's foundation.
