Supreme Court Orders Status Quo in Byju's CoC Dispute
•Supreme Court on February 27 directed status quo in the dispute concerning the legal standing of Think and Learn Private Limited's Committee of Creditors (CoC).
•The matter involves a February 24, 2026 NCLAT Chennai bench decision on whether the CoC has an independent legal character.
•NCLAT ruled CoC is a statutory body under IBC and can pursue litigation in its own name, despite not being a traditional juristic person.
•The dispute stems from the ongoing corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) of Think and Learn, initiated under Section 9 of the IBC.
•The CoC approached the Supreme Court challenging the NCLAT ruling, which upheld NCLT's decision not to implead the CoC in GLAS Trust proceedings.
