India-Bound LPG Tankers Safely Clear Strait of Hormuz Amid Tensions
•
Two India-bound LPG tankers, BW Tyr and BW Elm, carrying 94,000 metric tons of cooking gas, have safely transited the Strait of Hormuz.
•
BW Tyr is expected in Mumbai on March 31, and BW Elm in New Mangalore on April 1.
•
This transit occurs amidst heightened tensions in the region, with Iran allowing "non-hostile vessels" to pass if coordinated.
•
Four Indian-flagged LPG tankers have already completed the crossing, with three more currently in the western section of the strait.
•
India, the world's second-largest LPG importer, relies on the Middle East for about 90% of its imports.
