Scam began with a fake TRAI call, followed by threats of money laundering cases and imminent arrest.

Fraudsters collected sensitive personal and financial details, including Aadhaar, PAN, and bank accounts.
•
Rs 1.18 crore transferred in five instalments; victim pressured to pawn gold and take loans.
•
Another similar 'digital arrest' scam targeted a retired LIC officer and his wife, defrauding them of Rs 12.90 lakh.
