• Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) undertake Rs 18,365 crore redevelopment for Mumbai's suburban rail network.
• Projects aim to enhance services and ease travel across Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), covering 400.53 km.
• Work includes construction/extension of rail routes and upgradation of existing services, currently in various execution stages.
• Key projects: CSMT-Kurla 5th & 6th line (Rs 891 Cr), Panvel-Karjat Suburban Corridor (Rs 2,782 Cr).
