Gurugram Launches 3-Month HPV Drive to Vaccinate 10,000 Girls Against Cervical Cancer
•
Gurugram aims to vaccinate 10,000 adolescent girls with the HPV vaccine in a three-month drive starting February 28.
•
The campaign, part of a universal vaccination effort, targets girls aged 14 who haven't turned 15, offering free and voluntary vaccination.
•
The primary goal is to reduce cervical cancer risk, the second most common cancer among Indian women, caused by HPV types 16 and 18.
•
Vaccinations will be digitally recorded on the U-WIN portal, with consent via OTP or written permission, and digital certificates issued.
•
Haryana has received 1.14 lakh HPV vaccine doses, expecting to benefit 3 lakh girls statewide, with Gurugram receiving 3,000 doses initially.
