NCERT Recalls Class 8 Textbook After SC Bans Publication & Circulation

•NCERT has ordered the immediate recall of its Class 8 Social Science textbook, *Exploring Society: India and Beyond, Part 2*.
•The recall follows a Supreme Court order dated February 26, 2026, banning its publication and circulation.
•Individuals, schools, and organizations are asked to return copies and remove digital content from the chapter “Role of Judiciary in Our Society”.
•The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, initiated a suo motu case regarding a sub-section on “Corruption in the Judiciary”.
•NCERT apologized for the “unintentional error” and withdrew the book, blocking its digital version.
