India Assures Full PNG, CNG Supply; LPG Bookings Soar Amid Panic Buying

•Government assures 100% natural gas supply for Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to households and transport.
•Industrial and commercial gas supplies are regulated at 80% to ensure uninterrupted availability for essential segments.
•LPG cylinder bookings surged from an average of 55.7 lakh to 88.8 lakh on Friday due to panic buying, despite no reports of dry-outs.
•State-run GAIL advised City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities to expedite new commercial PNG connections to reduce pressure on LPG demand.
•Commercial LPG cylinders are available across 29 states and Union Territories; online bookings account for about 84% of total requests.

Domestic Cooking Gas Gets Costlier: Domestic LPG prices increased by Rs 60 per cylinder on March 7, marking the second price hike within a year. The rise comes amid a sharp surge in global energy prices following coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran that began on February 28. The Centre directed all states and Union Territories to closely monitor LPG supplies on a daily basis, take strict action against violators, prevent the spread of rumours, and maintain law and order amid public concerns about a possible shortage of LPG cylinders due to the escalating crisis in West Asia.
