Air India: No Issues Found in Boeing 787 Fuel Control Switch Re-inspections

  • Air India completed precautionary inspections of the Fuel Control Switch (FCS) across its entire operational Boeing 787 fleet.
  • No issues were identified during these checks, which were undertaken after a pilot reported a possible defect on a London Heathrow to Bengaluru flight.
  • The aircraft, carrying over 200 passengers, landed safely in Bengaluru and was temporarily grounded for checks.
  • The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) conducted an initial examination and found that correct procedures were not followed in operating the FCS.
  • Air India operates 33 Boeing 787 aircraft, with 28 currently in active service, and will circulate OEM-recommended operating procedures to all crew members.
