Centre to Launch Pilot Scheme for Direct Refunds from Inactive EPFO Accounts

31.86 lakh inoperative accounts hold Rs 10,903 crore; 7.11 lakh accounts in Rs 0-Rs 1,000 category.

Pilot phase to credit Rs 650 crore to nearly six lakh inactive accounts within a month.

Funds to be deposited directly into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts; non-Aadhaar accounts to expedite seeding.
•
Aims to simplify withdrawals, overcome cumbersome procedures, and ensure financial inclusion.
