Centre to Launch Pilot Scheme for Direct Refunds from Inactive EPFO Accounts

•Ministry of Labour and Employment to roll out pilot for direct refunds from inactive EPF accounts.
•31.86 lakh inoperative accounts hold Rs 10,903 crore; 7.11 lakh accounts in Rs 0-Rs 1,000 category.
•Pilot phase to credit Rs 650 crore to nearly six lakh inactive accounts within a month.
•Funds to be deposited directly into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts; non-Aadhaar accounts to expedite seeding.
•Aims to simplify withdrawals, overcome cumbersome procedures, and ensure financial inclusion.
