DGCA Fines Air India Rs 1 Crore for Flying A320neo Without Airworthiness Certificate

  • Aviation safety regulator DGCA imposed a Rs 1 crore fine on Air India.
  • The fine is for operating an Airbus A320neo on at least eight routes without required airworthiness certification.
  • DGCA began probing the incident on December 2 last year after the airline reportedly flew the aircraft without a valid airworthiness review certificate (ARC).
  • Air India voluntarily reported the incident and stated all identified gaps have been addressed.
  • The ARC is issued annually after a thorough review of maintenance records, physical condition, and compliance with airworthiness standards.
