Historic First: Indian Air Force Instructors to Train British Pilots at RAF Valley

  • Indian Air Force instructors will train Royal Air Force pilots for the first time ever at RAF Valley in the UK.
  • Three Qualified Flight Instructors (QFI) from the IAF will be deployed for an initial period of two years.
  • They will instruct on BAE Hawk T2 or Texan T1 aircraft, remaining under IAF command while performing duties for RAF.
  • This follows the 19th UK-India Air Staff Talks and marks a significant step in bilateral defence cooperation.
  • The initiative signifies that all three British military academies now host Indian officers as instructors.
