IAF to Train British Fighter Pilots for First Time Under New Pact

  • India and the UK enhance military training cooperation following the 19th UK-India Air Staff Talks.
  • IAF will send three qualified flight instructors (QFIs) to RAF Valley in the UK to train British fast-jet pilots.
  • This marks the first time Indian instructors will provide fighter jet training at a UK facility, initially for two years.
  • IAF trainers will instruct on BAE Hawk T2 or Texan T1 aircraft, remaining under Indian command while performing duties for RAF.
  • This follows previous deployments of Indian officers as instructors at Royal Air Force College Cranwell, Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, and Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
