National Consumer Helpline Facilitates ₹36.8 Cr Refunds from E-commerce Platforms
- •National Consumer Helpline (NCH) facilitated ₹36.80 crore in refunds from e-commerce platforms between April 25, 2025, and January 31, 2026.
- •Minister BL Verma stated actions are taken under Consumer Protection Act, BIS Act, and Legal Metrology laws to protect online shoppers.
- •BIS found 142 out of 344 e-commerce product samples lacked valid certification, leading to search and seizure operations at 22 warehouses, including Amazon and Instamart.
- •CCPA imposed ₹10 lakh penalties on Meesho, Flipkart, Amazon, Meta Platforms Inc. for non-compliant walkie-talkie listings and ordered removal of car seat belt alarm stopper clips.
- •Complaints against e-commerce companies are rising, with NCH partnering with 1,169 companies and using AI-based tools to resolve grievances.
